W Shanghai

A room with more than just a view

Impressive interiors along with an impressive view

W Shanghai - a room with an incredible view
W Hotel, Shanghai looks out over the Huangu river with views of the skylines of Pudong and Puxi districts

W Shanghai opened in 2017 and continues to wow its guests with its state-of-the-art interior and its incredible view of the futuristic skyline of China's biggest city. Highlights of this project included the narrow skylights which dominate the welcome area (below, right) and the metallic bathroom tiles (below, left) which invoke Shanghainese clay tiles but whose shiny surface helps to reflect the skyline from outside the windows.

Other noteworthy elements of this design include the neon lights which illuminate the lobby which resemble the traditional Shanghai sight of wet laundry which is often hung across narrow alleyways throughout the city. Possibly the best views can be found at Wet, the hotel's large rooftop pool, and Wet Bar, its accompanying drinks bar.
